As I woke on each consecutive morning of London Beer City the intensity of a building, creeping melancholia increased. The kind of turgid tiredness that consecutive days of heavy drinking brings can be a welcome burden though. London's beer scene is not a harmonious utopia. It's a shattered mirror, a chaotic mess just like London itself. Uncontrollable and yet, at it's very best, utterly joyous. London Beer City only served to enhance this chaos. As I skipped from beer festival to tutored tasting to tap takeover I let the chaos in and it washed the melancholy away. Each day I needed a little more disorder to balance a little more disdain. It was wonderful. I already look forward to letting the chaos in again next year.
